Dr.Frederick Banting and Charles Best successfully isolated the Insulin A hormone. This achievement was the pinnacle of years of work by Banting and his assistant, Charles Best.
In 1922, after sufficient testing, Leonard Thompson, a 14 year old boy from Toronto was the first person with diabetes to receive insulin. Leonard, who was near death, rapidly regained his strength and appetite. A treatment for diabetes had be found.
